STEP Diploma

Hi, I'm considering doing the STEP Diploma and wondered if anyone has any insights they could share in terms of what is involved, how difficult the modules are, etc?

I'm an experienced paraplanner and chartered through the CII but have no experience of STEP exams. It'd be particularly useful if anyone has any study materials or exam papers they would be willing to share, just to give me a flavour of what's involved.

Thanks,

James

  • To gain access to the STEP Diploma, you probably need to do the entry level certificate first, and you then move onto the 4 advanced certificates.

So you're talking about 5 exams, which will probably take c2-3 years.

STEP is really useful if you want to improve your knowledge on trusts and estates. There is a module on UK Tax for International clients.

The exams are different to the CII, but not necessarily harder. The exams are open-book.

There's not many Chartered Financial Planners who are also STEP qualified, so it can be a good way to differentiate yourself from the crowd.
