This relates to an offshore bond within a DGT arrangement

Thanks Ben, I understand the funds being an 'in scope instrument' but the exemption wording to me suggests no SR required for top ups to packaged investments such as OEICS/UTs (Which we have as part of our CIP) I thought there was slightly diff…

Ben i assume this applies to MIFID II products thought, not as in Stocks & Shares ISA as mentioned above, an investment in an OEIC would need the report but a top up to a client who is invested in a model portfolio of OEICS wouldn't https://w…

Hi Ben, Not that i disagree with any of the above, but in practical terms what really needs to be confirmed to the client to satisfy the regulator? ignoring common sense etc...
-
Hi Aron, COBS 9.43 'if the firm, acting as an investment manager for a retail client, makes a personal recommendation relating to a regulated collective investment scheme' I thought this would cover OEICS etc.. no?
-
From a regulatory standpoint i don't believe it is essential if its just a top up. COBS 9.4.3 As a matter of course i would include illustration to show costs, especially if initial fees are being deducted and also something to as you say cove…

What sort of tasks exactly Clare? May be able to provide assistance

Agree with Ben on this, especially if your dripping them into a 'CIP' on an advised basis. If you are on an advised basis surely you would to have some form research or background to say why you have chosen 6 months or 7 months or why not 5? N…

The above should read £130,000 (sorry), plus their employer contribution of £40,000 means they are subject to Tapered AA as adjusted is above £150,000. If the member contributed an additional personal £30,000 gross their income would be below £10…

Appears nobody has replied, so will add my two cents. Exams will certainly help in both on the job knowledge and obtaining higher income, however you will struggle to find 'higher level' roles if you have just exams under your belt and no experie…

Yes i submitted all within a month, that was working on the assignments every night and at weekends. Depends where your knowledge is at and how busy your home life is, maybe different if you have children! You really do not need 12 months, nor do…

Thanks Ben, it appears to me from this part of the FCA revalue the future income benefits in COBS 19.1.3AR(1) by projecting them to the date they would normally be paid in accordance with the assumptions in COBS 19 Annex 4C 1R(4); That only a …

Thanks @richallum much appreciated

If the goal is a house purchase, lifetime ISA contributing 4k each year would result in an addition £5,000 from the government

@benjaminfabi said: Your % calculation suggests a £1m investment premium? If this is the case, then is it possible that this money will sit in the bond and never get used by the investor, ultimately perhaps being gifted? If so, this is the an…

I thought holding you had pre 1982 were 'sold and bought back' as at 31/3/1982 and that is assumed date of acquisition?
-
Thanks both. This is a rather large investment and whilst cost is a factor it’s marginal in this case and the client may be a nil rate payer in some tax years and/or will assign to grand children to encash. So that’s part of the rationale

You need help as in you don't understand, or you want someone to give you old questions?

Never found it difficult, but have always found investments interesting. R03 on the other hand... Seems silly but I would look at your post exam percentages and see what your not doing well at... practise what your bad at. Pm me if you have an…

From my experience employers seem to value CII route and it is most widely recognised in the industry, in addition R01-5 does give you a good basic understanding of the relevant products etc. Without being a member you cant display your credentia…
