I'd second Jamie with Transact. On account service point - we have a dedicated service team as run the EBI (evidence based investments) portfolios via Transact; so this is exemplary. Also good technical help always available when needed. I'd also…

I think they state a guide of 80 hours revision / study per R0 - but I seem to recall doing a lot more than that for them (but I am a bit thick).

Hi Alan, I second Jo & Andy - CII route is certainly the more "technical" route. CFP do paraplanning certificate too though. On the work experience side, have you considered a stint with a product provider? Often, larger companies, have tempo…

I'm with you. For your average(?) ISA / PP / GIA client 2% TCO is more than enough.

Happy Christmas all! Let the challenge to eat my own body weight in Stilton commence.

Thanks Richard, interesting thoughts. The Pru have provided the below in which I can see no distinction between onshore and offshore assets. Is the telling part their final paragraph? Non-dom returning to the UK treated the same as UK Dom under g…

Re AJBell. We had used these guys for a low cost platform and passive buy and hold approach. However, in this circumstance the old adage of "if you pay peanuts..." could not be truer. Their admin and functionality is atrocious (in our opinion) co…

Is the bond structure definately worth it? If segments are not assigned out of the Trust then those 5%s become income when eventually paid out of the Trust and suffer tax at Trust rates. Tax pool and clients circumstances notwithstanding.

Speak with Evidence Based Investments (www.ebip.co.uk) and their Vantage service - might be just what you are after.

Thanks, yep have kicked it back into the client's court - it'll cost you this but given everything else you have pretty inconsequential what you do with it when looking at your Voyant plan and what ifs. Did think about swallowing the cost ourselves…

Totally agree with you - normal course of action is to get PTS sign off with TVAS and everything else supplied via our network but that is charged at £1,200+ per case. (anyone out there want to do it cheaper for us???). In this instance client has …

Good resource Dan, thanks.

Compared to defaqto engage it seems to be very easy to use. Not sure if all platforms are on there, Wealthtime was missing from the quick filter I ran on it earlier.

We came to the same conclusion about using a, for example FTSE 100 index, and the relevance of using this to compare a global equity / bond / property portfolio. But you are right, clients know what this is and can relate to this, so we asked what …

Yep Churchill can be a little sporadic - I know he is just about to release a full review of open BPR offerings and this has taken up considerable time, so hopefully EIS will follow.... Problem with some EIS is that they are relatively small tranch…

@benjaminfabi I am sure you have found this by now but in terms of capacity for loss if you go to simulators, needs analyser, select investment return rate and hit run - this will give you a required rate of return to ensure no plan shortfalls. I…

Word of caution on the MiCap one. Whereas providers of tax efficient products do not pay Churchill or Allenbridge for a review; MiCap charges the provider.... bit of a conflict in interest in my opinion. Why would a provider pay for a bad review a…

Thanks Matthew

Richard, Correct and correct. I am landing on the side of - he's got 19% of his 1.8M LTA left so could still take up to £85,500 PCLS...
-
The plot thickens. One platforms technical department says this: "The client has already used 25% of available tax free cash so there will not be PCLS available on the uncrystallised wrapper." Another says "Any benefits now taken, with any Fix…

Thanks Jamie. Transact seem keen to help. 7IM would but not on a one off case only, would want some scale (i.e. future clients put with them).

FinaMetrica, coupled with Voyant and a Turnkey investment service offers by these guys... https://ebip.co.uk/

Pru adviser site has some good calculators especially on pension related matters.
