I may not be remembering this correctly but I was once told by an insurance bod that 'financial adviser' is a riskier occupation (because 'sales' classification) than 'administrator' so probably better to pick the latter.

We are based on the south coast and we want another adviser before more support staff. But thank you for asking and best of luck with your future.

Hi there, You might like to try posting in the facebook group 'Lifetalk - financial adviser mastermind with Phillip Calvert' lots of IFAs there! I assume you've advertised yourself on Linked In, Indeed etc. Make it clear you are willing to do adm…

I agree Jona, we have to take it step by step... the compliance industry isn't going to make itself redundant overnight. At the individual level, people won't give up all they've believed in and invested their careers in. It's tough, we can only do …

Thanks Nathan. There was a post on Life Talk last night and someone linked the below. Adding here in case someone with a similar issue finds this thread. http://bridgewaterfs.co.uk/2016/08/16/worked-overseas-may-qualify-lta-enhancement/ I lik…

If using the Aviva notes, I think it's more useful to do them first because you have the big picture to attach the CII detail to (you already know what they're on about before they finally get to the point!). Don't worry about trying to make your…

Hi Andy, I over prepared for R04 - the mock made it seem like I needed to know much more detail than I really did. Having read everyone's thoughts above, I'm now thinking this is a great way to capitalise on R04 knowledge so I will also take J05 …

Bambi, is it the environment? People are always afraid to be the first to admit it's too noisy to concentrate properly.

My sense is that the guy is not eligible so I will look into it more if we need to but if we don't I just want a really basic sense of what this is as I have never heard of it before.

According to Paradigm, 'continuation of advice' letters or even emails can be very quick and easy as long as they refer to the earlier advice. I believe you can have one full report recommending phased flexible withdrawal of PCLS then thereafter no …

Natiaa, that's dreadful! Please let us know what the outcome is... I think a lot of us would have to radically change our exam technique.

Hi Andy, do you mean cashcalc are going to start offering a TVAS?
-
This is indeed brilliant and should be common knowledge - why haven't I thought to Google this earlier? I will put this into practice immediately!
-
Get you Royal London rep to check it? Email it and they can refer to technical (assuming tv is going to RL)

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that Claire. Have you had your marks breakdown and was there anything in particular that let you down? Can message me privately if you prefer.

Hi Peter, I've been there struggling the get information out of advisers heads and I do appreciate how frustrating it can be. In many ways, this has been the most challenging aspect of the job and I've certainly made some missteps in the past! I …

Hi Claire, Funny, I was just helping an R02 student with their calculator yesterday and sent him this http://www.open.edu/openlearn/ocw/mod/oucontent/view.php?id=4256&printable=1 I'd say get a very common model like a Casio FX83, I think t…

Hi Sian, if you're happy to share, I could also put those to good use. I have a very bright young man who wants to be an IFA so keen to encourage him.

Hi all, I did a 'Complex Documents' word course this week with my local Skills and Learning (combined councils' adult learning) and found it very worthwhile, I'd recommend it as it does save time in the long run. I agree with adding auto text, as…

Like Jona, I felt I had to re-write the PPOL rubbish, especially after the How Wow in August! Though I'd still produce a generic output to make sure I'm not missing anything. Has anyone got any advice on how to respond to the suggestion that doing s…

Andy, sounds like a spot of employment would be a good plan as you can get back in the swing, be able to create templates when you leave... A maternity cover contract would be ideal. The same firm might even give you outsourced work if they have the…

Thanks guys, this isn't within my power to do anything about the moment. Maybe some day, I have bookmarked the post, in hope. I hope Carli has a few more options for her shortlist, if only to discount, so she can produce the paperwork to demonstrat…

I'm embarking on J09, in fact should have started months ago! I have gone through it with an adviser who is cashflow mad (he's like level 6 in the Paul Armson cult) but that hasn't helped me to simplify it and just tick the CII assessor's boxes. …

We use Morningstar (formerly OBSR) portfolios and the portfolios with the same asset allocation (Ibbotson Associates apparently) made up of Vanguard funds. My impression is they are safe and boring solid bet, the consensus in my previous firm was th…

I don't but can recommend asking your reps.

Hi, I'm Clare I work in a small firm of advisers who have never had a paraplanner before. Sometimes I need like to drink consecutive cups of tea. I try to forget about chocolate in case I lose self control and get fat. I'm a fan of mechanical pe…
