Hi ya - Just do some great stuff on this, webinars, info sheets and all sorts, https://www.justadviser.com/retirement-principles/customer-vulnerability/ I found it really helpful

Yes, of course, no problem, I'll send you a message with my calendly on

Everything that Richard said! You seem to have made a great start and know what you need, it's simply a case of formalising it, ensuring it's all measurable, and tracking progress against benchmarks you'd like achieved. I've set up lots of tra…

I suspect it's because fixed term annuities are written under drawdown rules and you can't do a partial transfer of crystallised funds. I think that will apply with any provider, not just Canada Life. https://www.canadalife.co.uk/retirement/fixed…

Hi @SnehaK Welcome to the Big Tent and to paraplanning! This is a topic that comes up a lot in here and happily there is a ton of help available for you I won't repeat all the info that's in them but some of the threads in the New to parapla…

I would start with what the adviser's rationale for using it is! It's their name on the advice and the recommendations. The cheapest option may not always be the best for various reasons, and the reasons you have said are a good start, but not re…

No problem - I hope it's helpful! 😊

Hi Steve and welcome to the Big Tent! It's fantastic that you are considering a career change into financial planning and this group is the perfect place to get support and advice. I would have you had a look at some of the threads in the New …

Hi Rachael and welcome to the Big Tent! In answer to your question, the Certificate is useful but I would probably start with working towards the Diploma as this is what will give you the foundation knowledge to become a paraplanner. https://w…

@richardgough if you could please let me know which group you were in, (just drop me a message) as I don't know which one it was, we had several!
-
Hi Richard I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have a good experience of this. Just to let you know though, I did see and reply to your message on the facebook group and sent the Teams link to you on a direct message. I also spoke with the even…

That's great, thank you @Planner12 A few people have said that (I agree!) I'll pass that on, thank you!

@MLokhandwala said: Hi Caroline Happy to provide feedback. I will message you privately. That's brilliant, thank you so much!

Hello @MLokhandwala - I've just sent it to you Looking forward to seeing you there

Thanks, Dan, we're really looking forward to it!

Hi Jenny For brand new trainee paraplanners, the Apprenticeship standard is a good base to start from, the details for this are here: https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/paraplanner/ I've also attached the Asse…

@Andy_Schleider - I've seen those before, aren't they formulas for working out the max tax free cash? I'm not even sure what question you're wanting answered now!
-
If you use the full method with these figures, I get a CF of 12.381: Tax Free cash - £142,671 Divided by 20 times pension - (20 x £30,912) = £618,240 = 3+(20/CF) of 4.615392 minus 3 = 1.615392 Divide that by 20 = 12.381 Reversing it bac…

I know, but that's not how you work out the commutation factor! Always best to check with the scheme, I think
-
@PPWow said: Hmm I'm not sure about that? If the full pension is £20k p.a., reduced pension is £15k p.a. and commutation rate is 16, then the tax free cash would be c£94k (not £80k). I've just done this quickly, and I agree with PPWow's f…

Hi All It can be a bare trust, but writing a trust using the MWPA doesn't automatically make it so as there can be some flexibility with statutory trusts, and so it will depend on the specific wording of the deed. This is from J02: Most MWPA t…

I agree with Ben, I used to have a headset so I could do something else whilst holding! I know it's probably not much help in this case but does the client have admin support that could do the calling for you, or is it usually something really te…

The standard isn't designed to replace qualifications but to be in addition to them by assessing behaviours and skills to make you 'excel in the role' (from what the blurb on it says). There have been several threads on here about it (if you stic…

Hi Leo Congratulations on getting level 4, that's a massive achievement! You are not the first to come up against that quandary but you've made a great start and showing such keeness is a definite plus! There are a couple of options, starting …

Hi Gradient, my pleasure! There are a couple of larger firms that do the academy, Quilters, SJP (not everyone's cup of tea, I know but I believe their training scheme is very good), and I think Brewin Dolphin have one too. Re the Money Marketi…
