I didn't do A levels or uni and ended up working my way up to management in Waitrose. I figured this was not what i wanted to do so did a full time access course to allow me to go to uni but was still no clearer about what profession I wanted to end…

I've never heard anything to the contrary

Employer pays here. I wouldn't be happy if they didn't.

I think there's a huge need for mentoring in the industry especially as the "paraplanner" role ranges so vastly! I have been thinking of trying to set something up for a while so lets see if we can make something happen! I flit between membership…

Sounds like a fab thing to get involved in - I've emailed.

@kpin said: Hi @SianDaviesCole other than any local English language courses and apps e.g. Duolingo, maybe having a look through a relevant text book could help to get used to the terms and meanings etc. Maybe even a GCSE/A Level business studies…

@arongunningham said: It's all double-dutch anyway True! However imagine trying to work out what the hell providers are talking about when its not in your brain language!!

Thanks guys 😀 I just wanted to see if anyone out there was actually doing it as it is expensive!

thanks @benjaminfabi I have the boring wording down to a T! @parawhat I would love to use the Disney Princess Preference Indicator or I think @Nathan also came up with the Fairground Ride Assessment but unfortunately those radical ideas will not b…

Hi @ParaP the What is a Paraplanner could be an interesting one!! I'm sure everyone would have a different take on it A guide like this would be useful to anyone coming into the profession or working as an Administrator looking to make the step up…

Looking forward to the Raspberries

@arongunningham "green-lit"?? not heard that before! The decisions we are looking to make are at a firm level to get a "house view" on the providers we want to use. At the moment it's only thinking about the provider of the wrapper rather than the …

We identified a similar situation and I tasked each member of the Paraplanning team to make a presentation and quiz about defined areas of financial planning. I think this worked really well and gave the Administrators an understanding of the produc…

thanks @Jona totally agree - we have gone through that process already thinking of segmentation by likely need based on net worth/ongoing service level. So for our top clients who pay us the most OAC per annum they are likely to be £1m+ portfolio…

thanks @Jona & @arongunningham We use threesixty to give us a shortlist of providers (for a SIPP for example) so I guess this would be similar to running a regular market review. My question is more a case of - there are 10 providers on that l…

I would consider Canada Life and OMW for flexible reversionary trusts

I'm looking forward to Rory's analysis of the different tools available as I don't think much to them! We use FinaMetrica and an in-house questionnaire that includes capacity for loss questions and more soft questions about the client's expectations…

Hi Becky I would place more value in a revision workshop than the study text as the subject is quite dry. I know that's not a money saver solution, but I would say it's more likely to provide a successful result.

Hi, I'm Sian! I am a Paraplanner at Citimark in Bristol and tend to work with HNW clients involving mainly tax and trust planning work. Through the iFS route, I've completed the level 4 diploma and level 6 advanced diploma so am a Chartered member…
