Make sure you check out the support from Brand, Wizard, Expert pensions etc once the fact find is released

Hi all, Now we are a little further on with our experience of Mifid II and Ex Ante, does anyone have any further thoughts on this? We run MPS portfolios on platforms through our discretionary arm. We are being told that a switch into one of t…

Still, how could you recommend it when you have no idea if the service is up to scratch. It could be another Pru Retirement Account (or whatever the last pension they introduced was), where they massively underestimated the takeup and couldn't cope…
-
Yep, agree. Fits well for those with modest saving maybe. No facility for adviser charging though as far as I've read, so would people want to hand over their hard earned cash outside of the product for the management... The cynic in me thinks th…

Watch out on the ordering of the gifts too as failed PEts may bring CLTs within 7 years of the failed PET back into the IHT calculation.

Has anyone looked at AF6? Does this form part of the study for that?

This is one of those things that you know that you know, but when someone asks you always want to check.... Have a look at the 3rd bullet under the 3rd question in here - https://www.pruadviser.co.uk/knowledge-literature/knowledge-library/5pc-tax…

We're currently looking at the same. I'm favoring something like yours at present @AndyRichards I've been looking at some of the outputs from providers on this - Royal London's looks good. I'll dig it out if anyone would like to see it.
-
I would always use expert pensions for their training material (and if you are in the area - face to face sessions)
-
I would say that is right and the rules will allow that. Its not like someone would be able to take advantage of this very often in any case.

I remember reading the Standard Life blog last year where they were talking about the whole triage process and introducing their 'fair' multiples. At the time, I thought that surely as someone is coming up with what is fair, then this blurs the lin…

Also can make the CGT calcs a headache if the portfolios are held outside a wrapper due to potential bed & breakfasting (bearing in mind Nathan's comment in the first post.

@Jona said: Hi Louise, We do our TVAS in-house. Hi @Jona Are you still running these as a rough guide in the triage process, bearing in mind the new rules? Cheers Tony

@Caro said: The Standard Life process is really good, we used that as a starting point for our DB review process. Before we engage with a client and as part of the triage, we do a simple stress test just using an excel spreadsheet to esta…

Thanks Jonny, yes Threesixty have some info, more on the CIP side (which I am just getting down in a document too). Fun times!

+1 for expert pensions overall (though as per @Suse1969 not used them for AF4 specifically)
-
Thanks everyone. It does make sense from an ease of planning perspective to have everything in one place as you can then take into account the shares when looking at overall asset allocation etc. We'll be looking at suggesting a suitable platfor…

Thanks both - hadn't seen the follow up blog on the howwow

Not used either of those, but used Patterson a few years ago - the audio stuff is definitely useful to allow you to study on your commute.
-
When I was originally studying I found the audio support from Patterson was useful, as I could listen to it on the drive into and home from work. As said before, everyone has their own 'best way' of learning.

So, I am thinking of offering her all the options, of which one will be to take as small pots. Once she is then in receipt of the facts, she can make her mind up, pretty much like a DB triage (ish) @richardgough, it is the receiving scheme that …

Thanks for the comments - I think I need to push this back a little harder at the advisers.

@benjaminfabi said: No Dan sorry. New O&M is fast becoming my favourite software though. The retirement modelling part is really powerful. Hi Ben, You still using O&M? Interested to see if your experience has changed your tho…

Thought I'd bump this, as I'd be interested to hear views too.
