Book suggestions

Afternoon All
I am hopefully coming to the end of my final AF5 exam for Chartered in April and assuming I pass, rather that hit the traditional study books that I have done for 10 years, I would like to now look at other types of reading on a professional and personal basis.

My thoughts so far from a professional perspective and that I have seen others mention:

  • Beyond the 4% rule (Abraham's book)
  • The range of Nick Murray books out there
  • Advice that sticks 'Moira Somers'
  • Meaningful money handbook
  • Don't sweat the small stuff Richard Carlson
  • How to win friends and influence people - Dale Carnegie (don't know why just always wanted to read this)

What books would you recommend both professionally and personally, I am open to any suggestions. Perhaps we could all post a few to build up a library for everyone?

Have a good weekend all!

Nathan

  • A couple of books I've recently finished are

    Atomic Habits by James Clear
The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande

Both were very easy to read and offered some good ideas.

I've read all the books by the guys at Basecamp and made lots of changes over the years as a result. The two at the top of this list are probably the most useful but all four are worth it IMO.

Paraplanner. F1, Apple, Nutella, ice cream. No trite motivational quotes. Turning a bit northern.

  • A couple worth looking at - The Trusted Advisor (Maister, Green and Galford) and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Covey).

  • 7 Habits is on my reading list to go through again this quarter too. Really rewarding read.

  • Currently in our paraplanner 'library':

    • Beyond the 4% rule - Abraham Okusanya
    • The Number - Lee Eisenberg
    • Tim Hale - Smarter Investing
    • 7 Habits... (Covey)
    • Seven Stages of Money Maturity - George Kinder
    • Eat that frog - Brian Tracy
    • Who moved my cheese - Spencer Johnson
    • Living off your money - Michael H McClung (read after beyond the 4% rule as tough going!)
    • The Trusted Adviser - Maister, Green & Galford
    • Investing Deymystified - Lars Krojer
    • Sharing a Shell - Julia Donaldson
    Jonny (paraflex)
  • Lots of great suggestions. I would also add:

    • The One Thing by Gary Keller
    • Deep Work by Cal Newport
    • Get Things Done by David Allen
Not financial planning related but all have had a profoundly positive effect on the way I work and how much I get done.
