Time recording

Just wondering what you are all using for timer recording... I seem to recall chatting to someone about Harvest a while back.
Looking for recommendations that would potentially work for across a firm (admin/paraplanners/advisers?). Doesn't need to be back office provided. What are you using

  • I have used Togl before, very good at an individual level without having to pay. Possibly better if you do but I never found out.

When Intelligent Office deployed their timer, I switched the team I managed to that and it was great. Really good level of reporting when you get the categories right and, to be honest, if you're using iO (and IIRC you are?) I wouldn't go beyond that. If you want to chat more about the specifics of what I was doing then send me a message.

I'm using Harvest at the moment, free version, just really to test it as it has good invoicing capabilities. However, I've also just started using Freeagent accounting software and that has time tracking built in with a whole lot more, which I'll be testing in the coming weeks.

There are so many options, and with Zapier now starting to integrate almost everything the possibilities and combinations are becoming vast.

  • Thanks Ben. At this stage preferring to be outside iO. I have a vague recollection that @richallum mentioned Harvest to me. I'd be interested to know what you think of it. I like the idea of being able to do my timer on my phone as 2 screens really isn't enough (#firstworldproblems)...

@DanAtkinsonUK we have used Harvest for 10 years+ across the team.  It does have accounting options but we don't use them. We just use the timing & it's brilliant. The MI it gives me is so useful as it drives our workflow, costs & profit.  Mobile app not as powerful as site but still very good.  if you want to see inside our account (real data always more useful) I'd be happy to do a screenshare and show you around.

Paraplanner. F1, Apple, Nutella, ice cream. No trite motivational quotes. Turning a bit northern.

  • I'll drop you an email on that @richallum as that would be really helpful.

Just seen this which you can integrate (https://timeflip.io/) with Harvest. There's something especially geeky (in a good way) about using a D12 to track your time!

I use TMetric (tmetric.com) which is simple to use and then manually transfer all my time recording into Enable. It's time consuming and a real pain. Hopefully, Enable will up their game in this regard soon!
