Crystallised Pension Transfer - Consolidation Possible?

Hi all,
Just had a query regarding crystallised pension transfers I am of the understanding that partial transfers from a crystallised pension aren't possible, however I cannot find anything that explicitly states whether or not crystallised pensions from different sources can be combined?

Would it be possible for instance, if a client had 5 crystallised pensions with different providers, to consolidate these all into one crystallised pension?
Or would it be the case that the best case scenario would be to find a provider that would accept a crystallised transfer in, and would then have separate tranches for each different crystallised pension transfer. So in effect you would still have 5 crystallised pots but under one provider?

Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you.

  • A crystallised arrangement must be transferred to another crystallised arrangement that has nothing in it. So not possible.

Some providers/schemes might do a smoke and mirrors job suggesting there is only one arrangement but there will be wheels spinning in the background ensuring that legally they are separate arrangements.
