Junior Paraplanner

Heronsgate Capital are looking to recruit a Junior Paraplanner to join our boutique wealth management company which delivers bespoke, high quality financial planning and investment advice to individuals in the professional services industry.

This role would suit an existing Paraplanner or an IFA Administrator aiming to make the next step in their career. The role offers a structured career path to become diploma qualified before working towards Chartered status.

Located in Blackfriars (EC4V), we offer hybrid working, with 2-3 days office based.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

The role will involve working collaboratively in a dynamic team of Chartered Financial Planners, Paraplanners, Investment Analysts and Client Services Executives to help provide initial and ongoing advice to a wide range of high-net-worth (HNW) clients. The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Completing client suitability reports for new clients, ongoing portfolio review reports and ad-hoc advice requests for existing clients.
  • Adhering to internal procedures, the centralised investment proposition and financial planning house views.
  • Providing technical financial planning support to a team of 6 Chartered Financial Planners (together with the Senior Paraplanner)
  • Liaising with the client services and paraplanning team to ensure that the back-office system and client files are accurately maintained.
  • Writing accurate financial planning and investment recommendations in a succinct and structured manner with a keen eye for small details.
  • Attending new and existing client meetings with the Chartered financial planners and helping with the meeting preparation and subsequent follow-up.
  • Continuing to develop technical and industry knowledge through formal and informal learning and formally record this to meet ongoing CPD requirements.

Requirements & Skills

Essential
* Minimum of 2 years industry experience working with HNW clients and platform providers.
* An intention and commitment to undertake the necessary industry exams to achieve the Level 4 Diploma, before subsequently aiming to obtain Chartered status.
* Experience of maintaining a back-office CRM system to manage client and portfolio information.
* An understanding of FCA regulations and up-to-date with current legislation and industry standards.
* Familiarity of producing initial and ongoing portfolio review documents for clients tailored for their individual circumstances.
* Excellent communicator (written and verbal) and ability to form strong working relationships with the existing team.
* Ability to work accurately to deadlines with accountability and ownership for own deliverables.
* Strong IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
* Thorough knowledge of existing financial planning tax wrappers in the industry (ISAs, pensions, investment accounts and offshore bonds) and a working knowledge of financial planning strategies and investment markets.
* Confidence to communicate accurately and succinctly with clients directly by email and phone and contribute to client meetings alongside the Chartered Financial Planners.

Desirable
* Part Qualified: Diploma, Level 4
* Experience of writing advice relating to pensions (including pension transfers, the lifetime allowance, income drawdown, the annual allowance), tax planning investments, onshore and offshore bonds and trusts.
* Previous experience of using Xplan (our CRM system)
* Experience of using FE Analytics to obtain investment information.
* Experience of cashflow modelling software, particularly Voyant.
