Xplan - Document templates and Python Coding

Hello, has anyone got any experience of using 'document templates' in Xplan for generating suitability letters? The idea being that paragraphs can be stored centrally and can be pulled through to suitability templates using Python Coding, as can asset values and plan information.

We have had a go here and whilst the coding works, it plays havoc with the formatting of our letters. Xplan as yet, haven't been able to provide a solution, so I was wondering if anyone can offer any ideas from their own experiences.

Thanks.

Hi @Gustavo_Fring - I specialise in XMERGE (the python coding to which you refer) and would gladly touch base to discuss any issues you might be having with this.

In answer to your question, yes using doc templates in XP; Yes can code to pull through doc notes and Yes, it plays havoc with some formatting so you are not alone!

The formatting problem primarily stems from the document running through XP Word not yours. You are then opening their word document with your word template and the style / formats do not match.

Depending on the complexity of the formatting there is a fairly simple solution - we use it for all our XP Doc Templates once they are generated - which is, simply to copy the XP document, open a new blank word document and paste.

This now makes use of your styles etc. It can’t (in my experience) cope with more complex formatting such as section headers etc which I have not yet managed to get to work and frankly it's too long to work through so we have stuck with our existing non XP etc system for client SR

We have an online meet up on 15 Dec so can chat more then if you want to see if there is a work around for your particular set up.
