Teachers Pension - buying additional pension

Case adviser has sown a seed of doubt on this..........

Buying added pension under the Teachers' Pension is a pension contribution made by the member and is therefore tax relievable (assuming sufficient NREs etc).....

Thanks.

  • Hi Jona,

    What is your query?

If added years payments are made monthly via payroll then they receive full tax relief at source in exactly the same way as main scheme contributions via the net pay arrangement.

Indeed @benjaminfabi - and if as lump sum then via PAYE adjustment or SA.

Advisor dropped the "something in the back of my mind"........ that tax relief is not possible.

It is a pension contribution, so tax relief is possible......
