  • Good question Aron. I have a feeling it will be 'Sally is an adventurous investor, therefore, fixed interest pension does not match ATR'
  • Cheers Benjamin, yep last one for Chartered for me so desperate to nail this one first time. It's not the nicest of fact finds I must admit. Can we advise them to get married in the recommendations and justify question Agree with all of the abo…
  • Also try https://invidion.uk/ they have a FAD Tax calculator with a bit more flexibility than the HL one. Plus other very useful calculators.
  • If anyone is actually thinking or has purchased the Brand material for AF5 April 2019 exam, give me a nudge nathan.jones@bluewealth.co.uk I may have a proposition for you.

  • 4 months is enough time with the structured study plan they provide. As already mentioned they started 21st Jan though so you would need to catch up so if you are going to use them get involved now. I used them for AF3 and now for AF5. They do …
  • We use Enable via Creative Technologies (included in cost of being under the Best Practice Network although you can purchase if directly regulated). Have been very impressed and they are always improving the features. Its reasonably similar to IO …
  • @Jona you are correct sir, I was trying other calculators!!
  • Seems to be working for me. Make sure you use the link above.
  • I have spoke to a few people that have sat and passed this and they have said its great to use your cashflow software system as they allow you to add graphs/outputs/assumptions etc into an appendix which didn't count towards the word count. I beli…

  • Those hours do sound ridiculous if someone is just starting out. Would take a lot more than 15 hours study in my opinion. There is so much free material out there now for the R0 exams and only so many questions they can ask so stick with the book …
  • I second Ben's suggestion of doing the J and AF equivalent.....I didn't and massively regret the decision for all AF exams (currently awaiting AF results then AF5 to go if passed!)

  • Aron, I believe you are correct, that was my understanding.
  • I second Andy Hart, the Voyantist if you go down the Voyant route. Really useful videos, training sessions and forums to bounce ideas off peers. Stuart, I also agree that some people are doing the planning element a lot better than others and ma…
  • Hi Anna We went through this process quite recently. We have a Planning Meeting Agenda template which is created (at first review) or updated (for future reviews) to cover the higher level objectives and goals as well as agenda items for discu…
  • I am really tempted with AF8. Coursework seems really relevant to what we do day to day, rather than a technical memory test!!
  • Hi Clare Although not interested in the above, we signed up to Andy Hart's https://www.voyantmastery.com/ and it is a really good set of videos taking you from the basics to pro level. Its a monthly subscription which may be more palatable for t…
  • Third Utmost.....service excellent and support from a trust perspective is spot on too!
  • To be even more specific for some work we were carrying out we asked Parmenion (one of our outsourced providers) for their max loss/gains based on asset allocations for their passive portfolios over last 20 years which they provided, as well as year…
  • I suppose if you haven't sat AF8 and need another AF exam before AF5 then you could do this in the meantime as it is assignment based. I have just sat AF4 and have been tempted to do this, however, if AF4 is passed then I only need AF5 anyway so no…
  • And to add, I agree the free trial is no where near enough time to get to grips with things. It requires a good bit of time (don't all systems) to get the best out of it. We also signed up to Andy Hart's the Voyantist black belt programme and this…
  • Andy, i'm not sure what you mean by adding the state pension is a faff? You click on state pension, then type in the pension the client has. It already calculates the age, so you just click, type in value and press update? What particular element …
  • I think you are asking the wrong question really. Why would you want the quickest route, rather than the most suitable/best route for you? I personally would recommend the CII route though obtaining Chartered status and then compliment this with t…
  • I agree with Aron. Its a good and reasonably priced cashflow tool and we do subscribe, but mainly for the other tools/calculators as we use Voyant which in my opinion is far superior as it calculates all taxes etc as well. We did use Truth but swi…
  • Andy, do you have the exam guide for the April 18 exam. Have the rest but not this one. Thanks Nathan
  • Yes, agree 1 report with reviews contained plus cashflow outputs etc. No shortcut, however, the client just needs to be charged accordingly for the analysis and make it clear it needs paying whether they accept any recommendations are not and is for…
  • Tom, genuine couple of questions in relation to the process you follow. You say you don't charge for the initial analysis and only charge if a recommendation to transfer is made. So do you only charge a fee on a recommendation to transfer and no…

  • Just sat in on a Pru Webinar with Rory Percival and he says the FCA are particularly looking at cases where clients are transferring pre 55.  Their view appears to by 'why now?'.  He believes the FCA will look unfavourably on any cases pre 55 where …
  • It's been a while since I did this one but a good tip on exam day is literally have all the calcs on a piece of paper, memorise as much as you can outside the exam room and as soon as you get in there and they give you the 10 minutes to go through t…
