We currently have 4 progression levels to reward trainee paraplanners when progressing to fully qualified paraplanner, each level introducing more complex skills with a salary increase for each level. Does anyone use something similar? Im wondering how many exams would be fair to expect for each level. I.e. 2 exams for level 2, 4 exams for level 3 and diploma for level 4.

We have promoted one of our administrators to trainee paraplanner but we have no structured training program in place as we’re a small firm at the moment. The firm has ambitions to grow so we may look to progress other staff in time and starting a training programme for paraplanners is something we want to develop.

I’m looking for guidance on the best way to structure training. Our trainee is working on the job and we are varying the work at the moment, they are studying towards level 4 also and we would hope technical knowledge will develop from both on the job training and exams. There’s always lots of help on hand from myself as manager and other experienced colleagues.

I would love guidance or to hear experience of what works well or not so well when developing and training new paraplanners.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Would like the provider to be a specialist in financial services if possible or at least legal, accountancy, insurance or similar.
12 results here if these names ring any bells: https://lnkd.in/dyZ3_r2
I think I understand the 90% gov funding up to the cap, does the training provider apply for the funding and take a cut? What is the typical cost?
Thanks in advance

Hi all - looking for some advice. It is that PDR time of year and I really want to give some constructive feedback to my manager that I feel that my workload over the last year has been excessive and has hindered my ability to do my job effectively. What I don't want to do however is talk myself out of a job!!
I want to offer solutions to go with my feedback but I'm not entirely sure what the solutions could be - there is the option to outsource report writing, but I often find that by the time I have prepared what is needed for the external paraplanner, then it seems that the actual writing of the report would have been the easy bit that I could have done!
I love being busy and think that I am super good at prioritising, but I won't rush something if it means compromising standards. I have found myself putting in a lot of unpaid extra hours and logging on during annual leave over the last year and really want to put a stop to this without impacting my career. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has found themselves in a similar situation and how you handled it??

Hi,

Just wondering what other companies did in terms of a process for staff appraisals. A previous firm I worked for used a generic sheet which staff would complete (based on how they felt they were doing, what they enjoyed/disliked etc.) and then a conversation was had based on this sheet, but it wasn't role specific or very useful, if I'm honest. It was just a thing people dreaded every September..

I really want to put in place a solid appraisal process that feels personal to staff members (both paraplanning team and also admin support) and something that feels effective for helping the growth of staff and the business - if anyone would be willing to give a bit of an insight into what their firm does, that would be greatly appreciated.

I have not been here in a while, SO happy to see this group was made (thank you!).

OK I'll start with the problem and then my question. I have a fairly large team of Paraplanners, 13 soon to become 15. In terms of obtaining application forms, its a manual process every time - either obtain online, ring the provider or write an instruction letter.

Unfortunately there tend to be errors made in this process. Either the wrong form, missing form, error in instruction letter and so on. This doesn't happen in every case, maybe a handful every month, but nevertheless it has a big impact.

I am keen to know the experiences of other managers. Is this a common issue? Have you implemented any successful tips that have brought improvement? If you don't re-invent the wheel for every case, what do you do?

How do other managers here ensure application forms obtained by Paraplanners are correct?

I look forward to your comments.

Thanks
Trying to build a more robust staff review process for PPlanners and Admin and thinking about what KPIs we should use in assessing work quality, efficiency, team work and personal development.

The main tool we have for this is our CRM, especially around the efficiency and team work areas as we can report on how long tasks and sections of the advice process are taking as well as looking at all sorts of other things such as tasks set for others and tasks completed on other behalf (team work) plus tasks completed ahead of due dates / outside of due dates (efficiency).

What other metrics are people using to set KPIs and how are they measured.
